Casting the Axe

So yesterday we took a trip out to the Weald and Downland Open Air Museum for a day class in bronze axe making.

It certainly opened my eyes.

I would never have guessed at the amount of work, knowledge and skill involved in bronze work. 

To be honest I hadn't even been aware that bronze was copper mixed with approx 10% tin.

Great fun.
